First Visit

Your initial appointment will consist of a thorough examination and a discussion of potential treatment options. This important visit will last approximately one hour, and will give us insight into your orthodontic needs. You will meet with one of our experienced treatment coordinators, and one of our board certified doctors. During your exam, we will take digital photographs, a digital panoramic x-ray (if we have not received one that was taken recently from your dentist), and we will answer the following questions:

  • Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?
  • Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until the appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
  • What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
  • Do any permanent teeth need to be removed?
  • How long with treatment take?
  • How much will it cost, and how much does insurance cover?
  • What are my payment options?

The doctor will address specific areas after careful analysis of the diagnostic records. We feel it is important to analyze each patient’s specific needs, because this leads to superior results and higher patient satisfaction. We know that you will leave our office with a clear understanding of your specific orthodontic needs. After your initial visit, you, your general dentist, and your other dental specialists will receive a letter from us describing our findings and treatment recommendations. It is important for us to communicate throughout your treatment with all who may be involved in providing you with an excellent result.
