Clear Active Aligners
Many adult patients are curious about how clear aligners straighten teeth and want to know if they are a candidate for this type of orthodontic treatment. In our office we take all the advantages of Invisalign treatment and improve on it by allowing our doctors to have total control of tooth movements throughout your smile journey. We do this by keeping all processes organized within the office from 3-D digital scanning to tooth movement sequencing and printing the actual clear aligner.
At Hutta & Cook Orthodontics, we have invested in a three-dimensional scanner and were the first orthodontic office in Ohio to have a 3D printer. This means we can make a digital model of your teeth and straighten your teeth on the computer model before ever placing an appliance in your mouth. With the 3D printer, we can make a resin model of your mouth and create custom aligners for a treatment plan that is as unique as you are!
At the new patient initial exam, our orthodontists will give you every possible option to correct your smile. Some patients who have issues beyond just aligning teeth, for example if their bite needs correction, can often correct their bite with traditional brackets and finish alignment with clear active aligners. Other patients that need just minor straightening find that the clear active aligners are a perfect option for getting the smile they have always wanted.
Modern technology and orthodontic advances make having braces better than ever. At Hutta & Cook Orthodontics, we are dedicated to using only the very best treatment and appliance options available for our patients. That is why our practice uses the gold standard in self-ligating brackets once all permanent teeth have erupted to place teeth in their final position.
Self-ligating brackets are different than traditional twin brackets. These brackets are smaller in size and have an open-shut door mechanism allowing the wire to sit down in the bracket making them much more comfortable for our patients. Brackets come in clear and metal options and have special wires as well. The wires are made of copper nickel titanium, which are thermal activated. The wire is stimulated when the mouth is warm and they relax when the mouth is cooled. Therefore, patients have control over how tight that wire feels during treatment. The combination of the self-ligating bracket with the copper NiTi wire allows a patient to complete treatment in less time than traditional twin brackets and with a more ideal result.
